Closing Plenary
Panel: "Continuing the Ada Standard"
Thursday, November 12, 3:00
pm - 4:30 pm
Palladian Ballroom
Moderator: Ben Brosgol, Aonix
Panelists: Tucker Taft (Averstar/ARA), Joyce Tokar
(DDC-I /ANSI), Curtis Royster (DISA)
The past year and a half have witnessed some major changes
in Ada policy within the US Department of Defense. Most significantly,
the termination of the Ada Joint Program Office has resulted in a redistribution
of responsibilities surrounding various Ada standards-related activities.
This panel will discuss the issues involved and will provide a status update
of the efforts.
Specific topics of discussion:
-
How will Ada compilers be certified as conforming with the
standard?
-
How will a certification test suite be maintained?
-
Are there plans to revise this test suite?
-
What will be the "authority" behind the certification process?
-
How will the Ada standard be interpreted and, when necessary,
corrected?
-
Are there plans to revise the standard? If so, what is the
expected scope of changes?
