This BOF will discuss some of the benefits of using Ada to support the development of amateur
ham radio systems and address ways to make this happen in our community.

Software written to support Amateur Radio covers topics of all kinds, and using Ada to produce it would build recognition of Ada.
Areas of Amateur Radio software and sources include:
Design of antennas, radio circuits, propagation prediction http://www.qrz.com
Contact Logging http://www.arrl.org
Packet / Digital tools:
 APRS
Networks
PSK31
http://www.tapr.org
Computer control of radio station equipment

Tracking of Amateur Spacecraft

Embedded Automated Repeater operation

Onboard Spacecraft Flight Software
http://amsat.org
Ground Station Software

Most Ham S/W is written in BASIC and C.
The amateur radio community has an opportunity to build quality and reliability into their multi-platform S/W using Ada. The use of Ada provides those with products the opportunity to offer a highly competitive marketplace higher quality.
