This meeting was informally called by the Chair during Ada Europe. This document contains only informal minutes - rough notes were taken, but no extensive minutes.

Review and Approval of Agenda

The following topics were added to the informal meeting agenda: Reviving the long range task forces, Tri-Ada '96 concerns, Expanding the Ada Europe Agreement, Tri-Ada '97 Chair, LRMs for members, Ada CD-ROMs for members, ARA membership, Ada Europe '97, 1997 SIGAda Elections, FY 97 WG Budget

Reviving The Long Range Task Forces

Discussion was held on reviving the idea of long range task forces in 4 areas: (a) Events, meetings, conferences, etc; (b) Publications; (c) Membership/recruiting, (d) Public Relations. A consensus was formed for holding a meeting in the late Summer or Early Fall timeframe to discuss these. Goal would be a multiple day meeting to work on all areas.

Note: this meeting never came to pass. The logistics and personnel issues were never resolved. It was put on the agenda for the Tri-Ada '96 EEC meeting.

Tri-Ada '96 Concerns

Concerns were raised on the lateness of contacting vendors. Exhibitors were polled at Ada Europe. Plans were formed with Ben Brosgol, Exhibition Chair for TA 96, to work on this issue.

Expanding The Ada Europe Agreement

Ada Europe expanded their usual reciprocal offer by providing 4 free admissions for SIGAda members. The officers discussed responding in kind by providing 4 free admissions to Tri-Ada '96.

A motion to provide travel & admission for 3 Ada Europe officers and admission for 4 others was passed.

Tri-Ada '97 Chair

The need to select a chair and location was discussed. No resolution was obtained. RE Abraham and associations were directed to ensure that a site was selected prior to Tri-Ada '96 so that it could be announced at the conference.

LRMs For Members

Springer-Verlag was discussing producing RM95 & Rationales at low cost. They approached SIGAda with a proposal to purchase a bulk quantity (~1000). The officers declined to make such a bulk purchase. Hal decided to investigate if this could be offered as part of the member plus package.

Ada CD-ROMs For Members

A similar issue was brought up for the Walnut Creek CD-ROM. Hal will investigate it's possibility as a member plus package offering. It was decided not to purchase these for all members as many people either receive it at Tri-Ada or receive it from the AdaIC/AJPO.

ARA Membership

The question of SIGAda's membership in the ARA (for $3K) was again raised. The failure of the ARA to provide the requested information again caused this item to be voted down.

Ada Europe '97

The call for participation was passed out at the conference. Hal expressed the desire to have greater SIGAda participation

AI: Brad to forward a copy of the call for participation to the sigada-interest mailing list

1997 SIGAda Elections

The group conducted a short brainstorming session on nominees for the upcoming SIGAda elections in the Spring of 1997. All potential applications should contact Mark Gerhardt.

FY 97 WG Budget

Hal reminded everyone that the Working Groups are not yet spending the money that was allocated to them. He promised to send out a reminder e-mail to all groups to encourage them to spend the money that SIGAda had allocated.
