HIGHLIGHTS of March 1995 ASISWG Meeting From 6-8 March 1995, ASISWG met at Harris Computer Systems in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Highlights from this meeting include => 1. A formal tracking system was established to track ASIS issues to support Ada95. Comments are to be submitted to asis-comment@sw-eng.falls-church.va.us using a format similar to that for comments to Ada95. 2. Steve Blake had submitted 2 proposals for changes to the ASIS specification for Ada83 in order to evolve the specification to support Ada95. These proposals were approved and used to establish our baseline for Ada95. The proposals were entered as the first two issues in the new tracking system as: Issue 001 Proposed ASIS95 Element_Kind Type Hierarchy Issue 002 Proposed change to ASIS83 to produce ASIS95 draft standard 3. A mechanism was established to track unresolved ASIS83 issues and convert them to ASIS95 issues. 4. Plans are being made to discuss ISO standardization options for ASIS95 at the WG9 meeting in April. An identified approach is to develop a separate ASIS standard for Ada95 and eventually integrate the ASIS standard as an annex to the Ada ISO/IEC 8652 standard. 5. A number of addditional issues are still to be resolved. A significant issue is associated with the changed library concept for Ada 95 as identified by Serge Rybin [Issue 004]. 6. Besides numerous U.S. ASIS activities, we were pleased to note ASIS activities on the net from Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Russia, and the U.K. We were very excited about the University of Moscow implementation of ASIS for the GNAT Ada 95 compiler. We understand this implementation will be completed in the fall of 1995. 7. There will be several substantial changes made to the organization of ASIS information on the sw-eng.falls-church.va.us host. The ASIS information is in the /public/AdaIC/work-grp/asiswg directory. Please allow at least one more week for the necessary changes to be accomplished. A follow on email will be submitted when things have settled down. 8. ASIS abstractions in the form of a Program View Layer (PVL) will soon be available. This will make the ASIS interface significantly more powerful. I would like to thank Dan Rittersdorf and Harris Computer Systems for hosting a very productive ASISWG meeting. The next meeting will be held in conjunction with WAdaS'95 on 26-27 June in McLean, Virginia. v/r Currie Colket Chairman, Ada Semantic Interface Specification Working Group (ASISWG) colket@smtp-gw.spawar.navy.mil colket@sw-eng.falls-church.va.us (703) 602-1483 (703) 602-6805 (FAX)
