Compilers and Tools for Education

On this page, we discuss GNAT, the GNU Ada 95 compiler available by ftp, and also highlight and publicize those corporate compiler vendors and tool vendors which offer discount and/or donation programs to educational institutions.

GNAT - a free GNU Ada 95 compilation system

GNAT is a high-quality, complete compiler for Ada95, integrated into the GCC compiler system, and distributed freely, with sources, under the Copyleft policy of the Free Software Foundation. Ada Core Technologies provides commercial support for GNAT and related software, including maintenance, porting of Ada83 applications to Ada95, porting of GNAT to new hardware platforms, training, and consulting.

GNAT has been ported to nearly all popular computing platforms. These ports are available by anonymous ftp from many locations, and are also included on the Walnut Creek Ada CD ROM.

Educational programs provided by Ada compiler companies

On this page, we highlight and publicize those vendors which offer discount and/or donation programs to educational institutions. The following vendors have either described their educational programs on their web own sites or authorized us to do so here.
